Guy Smith
is the chief consultant for Silicon Strategies Marketing. Guy brings a
combination of technical, managerial and marketing experience to Silicon
Strategies projects.
Directly and as a
consultant, Guy has worked with a
variety of technology-producing organizations. A partial list of
these technology firms includes ORBiT Group (high-availability backup
software), Telamon (wireless middleware), Wink Communications
(interactive television),
VA Software (enterprise software),
SUSE
(Linux distributions and applications),
Novell (infrastructure
software),
DeviceAnywhere (mobile applications), Virtual Iron
(server virtualization), LogMeIn (secure remote access),
Brainwave (application development), Open-Xchange (groupware)
and FundNet (investment services).
Both in VP-level roles as
well as through consulting, Guy has led efforts on marketing technology products and services as diverse as enterprise backup software,
collaborative software development systems, donation management
portals and language/localization services. For more than a
decade, Guy's primary focus is on market strategy development
from product conception to product launch.
Before turning to
marketing, Guy was a technologist for NASA, McDonnell Douglas, Circuit
City Corporate Headquarters and other organizations. Guy spent
more than a decade focused on IT infrastructure issues and managing
complex, multi-platform mainframe-class installations and staffs.
